Visual Art Lab Tech

Recommended Preparation: Visual Arts Dept Teacher recommendation

Grade Level: 10-12.

This elective class gives hands-on training in an art, ceramic, or photo lab and technical skills needed in the workplace. Under close teacher supervision, students will work in the visual art department setting up and maintaining the darkroom lab, mixing chemicals and/or glazes, set up and inventory of art materials, matting and framing of art work, displaying of art work, equipment repair, ongoing projects, and training of others. This will be a real workplace environment with records of attendance, skills certified in a portfolio, and evaluation all keyed to each student individually. May be repeated for credit up to 4 semesters. Class size is 1 student per period.
