The Mission of AHS Link Crew is to promote peace on campus and the surrounding community, to increase student achievement, and to create a sense of community and connection between all students.
Link Crew is a program, designed to connect incoming freshmen with successful upperclassmen. This connection, or link helps ensure that the freshmen have positive introduction to high school, and to our campus. Link Crew Leaders come from a variety of areas at Aptos High, but they have one thing in common, all the Link Crew Leaders are hear for the freshmen to turn to for support. Ninth graders are given the opportunity to connect with their leaders socially and academically throughout the year.
This year the Link Crew helped with freshmen orientation. There were over 800 freshmen and 80 Link Crew Leaders participating in activities. A lot of fun was had by all. The next big activity, will be the movie night on Thursday, you don't want to miss out.
Note to Leaders
Socials are after school events that are fun way to bond with freshmen. They range from movie showing to tailgating parties, and require that you help out with the event as well as interact with the freshmen. Check-ins happen about once a quarter and involve visiting your freshmen during tutorial to check up on how they are doing. You will receive a reminder and more information about each event as the date approaches. In additions to these dates, you must reach out at least once this year to your freshmen. Valentines Cards, birthday cupcakes, or a special note to fulfill this requirement. You must leave a memo in Ms. Fink's box after you have completed this assignment,or you won't get credit for it.
We also have a Link Crew Class. The class is geared towards creating a successful Link Crew Program throughout the year. If you would like to switch into the class, which is offered 5th period, please talk to Ms. Fink. We do a variety of events, which include planning socials, organizing Link Crew etc.
