Course Description

  • MODERN EUROPEAN HISTORY AP (Year)
    Grade Level: 10-12
    Prerequisite: Placement in class is competitive - based on GPA and application.
    The Advanced Placement program in European History fulfills the California State requirement for a World Cultures/World History course. Students are expected to demonstrate a knowledge of basic chronology and major events and trends from approximately 1450 to present. In addition to providing a basic narrative of events and movements, the goals of the AP program in European History are to develop (a) an understanding of some of the principle themes in modern European history, (b) an ability to analyze historical evidence, and (c) an ability to express that understanding and analysis in writing. Students will take the College Board Advanced Placement European History Examination. Homework will average two (2) hours per night.
