3280              Health and Human Biology                                                                                                                            Prerequisite:  None                                                                                                                                                                                                   Grade Level:  9-12

This course is intended for Freshmen who are NOT enrolled in Biology.  It will satisfy the Health semester graduation requirement, and counts as one year toward the 3-year science graduation requirement.  Students who take this course will still need to take either Biology or Life Science to complete their state standards in Biological sciences.  This course includes a 10-hour community service component designed for students to complete year 1 of their district community service requirement.  The traditional topics covered in Health will be expanded to include lab-based activities to study Human body structures and functions.  A NOTEBOOK is required for this class, and there will be frequent writing assignments.  Homework will average 1 to 2 hours each week
