3540 AP Physics
Prerequisite: Adv.Algebra/Trigonometry with 'B' or better; concurrent enrollment in either Pre Calculus/Calculus or IMP 3
Grade Level: 10 - 12
This course satisfies the U.C. Lab Requirement, and is awarded an extra grade point for its greater level of difficulty. Honors Physics will explore concepts of traditional Physics at more depth through the use of research papers, open ended questions, guest speakers, labs, projects, and field trips. The course will provide a solid foundation for college level studies in Physics. Topics will include Mechanics, Waves, Electricity and Magnetism, Optics, and Modern Physics. Applications will be made in the fields of Astrophysics, Geophysics, and Engineering. Homework will average 4-5 hours per week, with additional time needed for the long term projects.
