This basic introduction to performing on the guitar assumes no prior musical background. Students will study basic elements of musical organization, structure, and style; basic guitar technique, including tuning, chords, scales, and flat and fingerpicking; and basic singing technique. Several pop/folk songs will be learned, enabling students to perform accompanying themselves on the guitar. Intermediate guitar credit will be offered to students enrolling in a second semester of guitar class.
