ROP Bike Performance & Technology

ROP Bike Performance & Technology

Grade Level: 10-12

In ROP Bicycle  Performance & Technology , students experience a comprehensive bicycle educational program, teaching them the mechanical fundamentals of bicycle assembly and repair while fostering safe cycling habits, environmental awareness, and healthy living.

In the class, students are prepared to work as mechanics in the cycling industry, while focusing on internship opportunities and the multitude of bicycle industry career options. Through in-class demonstrations, discussions and practice, students will develop the skills necessary to function as an entry-level bicycle mechanic. Bicycles assembled and repaired by the students become vehicles to explore the outdoor classroom. Guest speakers and field trips to local corporations further expose students to the various opportunities available within the cycling industry including: engineering, fabrication, sales, marketing, film-making, graphic art, and writing for publication. Also incorporated will be employability skills such as work portfolio preparation, job interviewing, resumes, etc.
