Parking advice from the AHS Administration Team in order to improve your experience while on campus:

  • Arrive at school events early and pick up late
  • Schedule on-campus meetings after peak hours of congestion. (morning and at the end of the day)
  • Do not stop in RED ZONES
  • Do not park in BUS ONLY ZONES
  • Follow the direction provided by school personnel

Driving & Parking Reminders

  • Students may not leave campus without prior parental permission and written authorization from the Attendance Office. Students that do leave campus without a pass will receive a period cut or unexcused absence for the time that they are gone and the absence can not be cleared afterward.
  • All parking lots are OFF Limits and are considered OUT OF BOUNDS during school hours; including break and lunch.
  • Students many not return to their vehicles at anytime during the school day without administrative authorization.
  • Forging a parking permit will suspend your privilege to park on Aptos High School property during regular school hours.

Should you have any ideas or comments regarding parking at Aptos High School, please email Ben Slyder at: [email protected]

Parking At Aptos High School

As a result of our continued concern for the safety of our students, staff, and community, Aptos High School implements parking enforcement in an attempt to create safety and equity for all visitors who drive to campus.

  • AHS utilizes the services of a private company to enforce the parking tickets here at AHS.  When a parking ticket is issued, it is sent to the company who works directly with the DMV.
  • The contracted company monitors the ticket and issues fine(s) for tickets that are not paid on time.
  • Should someone decide not to pay the ticket, the violation will be attached to the car registration. Ticket(s) and the late fees accompanying the ticket(s) will need to be paid PRIOR to the car being registered.
  • The parking permits may be purchased for $25 (exact cash/check required) and will be sold on a first come basis.
Sales are limited to 350 permits!

  • Parking permits must be affixed (not taped on) to the vehicle on the lower left-hand side of the windshield.
  • Any student who has a valid driver's license, current registration, and valid proof of insurance will be allowed to purchase a parking pass as long as the student does NOT have outstanding issues related to: attendance, discipline, or past parking violations.

Thank you for contributing to the creation of a safe school by adhering to the parking rules and regulations of Aptos High School at all times.

Start Smart: Driving Smart to Stay Safe

In a continued effort to support students and to maintain a safe campus Aptos High School is partnering with the California Highway Patrol Department to offer the Start Smart Program.

Excerpt from the “Start Smart: Driving Smart to Stay Safe” on the California Highway Patrol Department website:

Freedom.

Getting their driver's license opens a new world to young drivers. Suddenly, the possibility of new destinations and experiences with friends are within grasp. But a new driver lacks the experience that is sometimes needed on the road. Situations can appear in a second, sometimes too fast for a new driver to respond to. But, there are ways to avoid dangerous situations. There are ways to keep a new driver - and their passengers - safe on the road.

Although not mandatory, we are asking all students participate in the Start Smart Program if they plan to obtain an AHS parking permit for the 2015-16 School Year.

There are two planned classes in the Performing Arts Center “PAC”:

  • Tuesday 8/4 – 6:00pm to 8:00pm
  • Wednesday 9/2 – 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Aptos High School Administration
