Teen Driving
T een driving rules are changing and there are some things that you should be aware of. One important rule everyone should know about is the new cell phone law that took effect July 4, 2008. It states that people can't use handheld wireless cell phones but if you are over 18 you are allowed to use a hands-free device. If you're under 18, you are not allowed to be on the phone at all. The law says that you are allowed to use it for an emergency if it is to a law enforcement agency, a medical provider, the fire department, or other emergency service agencies. For a first offense, the fine can be anything from $20 to $50. With the addition of penalty assessments, the fines can be more than triple the base fine amount. There a couple of more facts so check them out at the DMV website or click here . So don't use your cell phones unless you have a hand held device and are over 18.
