Did you get a truancy letter?
The PVUSD purchased a software program to assist in non-attendance (truancy) notification. That's a good thing – more kids in school more often. The bad thing is that the company sent out over 200 letters to AHS families WITHOUT our knowledge and WITHOUT our being able to suppress certain letters as was promised to us. The first we heard of the mass “you've been truant” letters was when the calls came in. The AHS attendance office and APs handle attendance notification through our own auto-dialer and our own assignment of Saturday schools. If you received a letter, IGNORE IT! As needed, you will be notified of daily absences through the auto-dialer and for unexcused absences, your assistant principal will call you in. IGNORE THE LETTER! If the new district software program gets the bugs worked out and AHS starts to use it, I'll let you know first through a mailed newsletter on AHS letterhead.
I apologize for the false letter and the poor communication,
Diane Burbank, Principal
