My wife, Erica, and I have always shared a personal belief that in order to find true happiness in life, one must possess a sound mind, body and spirit.

In 2003, we decided to put that philosophy into practice when we became members of the Mushinkai Judo and Jujitsu Dojo.

Our "Sensei" (meaning teacher) is a stern, yet kind man by the name of Dale Kahoun.

Kahoun, along with his wife, Annette, are both nationally respected Martial Artists and have spent a great deal of their lives attempting to pass on their wisdom to others.

Sensei Dale has studied the Martial Arts for 33 years from several influential people. His longest association was with the well-regarded Proffesor Siegfreid Kufferath. Proffesor Kufferath was a 10th degree black belt and a student of the origional Founder of Danzan Ryu Jujitsu (Professor Henry S. Okazaki).

Mushinkai is from the Japanese term 'Mushin' which means roughly there is no thought separating you from action and kai means house, group or club. The Japanese literal character translation comes out 'No Mind' whereas the Chinese read it as 'No Heart' (either referring to a natural understanding or knowing).

As one of the most popular sports on the planet, Judo is more than just a physical activity, and its major intent is to improve a person in a spiritual way through exercise, moral character training and self-defense.
