Grades will be based on a point system.  Successful students will attend class regularly, participate in class discussions, volunteer ideas and constructive criticism, and will work with the collective goal in mind.  Points will be given for daily participation.

The grade of “B”  (above average) will be the standard grade.  It will reflect a good level of service to th yearbook class, the meeting of yearbook deadlines, an satisfaction of all requirements.

An “A” grade will be reserved for those who perform extra duties and who show exceptional initiative, those who satisfy the “B”  level requirements and strive for superior execution of design and page elements, coverage, and fundraising requirements.

A “C” grade will be awarded to the members who need reminders about responsibilites, deadlines, etc. but who do an adequate job once moving.

Secondly, points will be given for meeting all deadlines (including page planning, deadlines, weekly planning reports, as well as editorial deadlines and final page submission.  These deadlines represent the last possible moment for submission.  An “A” student will have their pages in, meeting all requirements for page submission (which will be discussed in class), when possible, before the deadline date.

At the end of each quarter, grades will be based on total points possible.  Grade breakdown will be as follows:

A=90-100%

B=80-89%

C=70-79%

D=60-69%

F=59% or less

Any member of yearbook who cannot earn a “C” grade will be asked to leave the yearbook class.

Lastly, each student is REQUIRED to participate in Advertising/Sr. Congratulatory Ad sales.  You will not receive a passing grade if you fail to submit any of your Ad requirements. Failure to sell advertising will result in the lowering of a student’s quarter grade by one full grade per ad not submitted.  The deadline for sales submission are as follows:

End of September- 2 Advertisements Due (1st Quarter requirement)

Mid November –2 Advertisements Due (2nd Quarter requirement)

February-1 Advertisement Due (3rd quarter requirement)

4th quarter-TBA- Handbook Update Due (4th quarter requirement)

Specific ad deadlines will be determined to align with our page deadlines.  Students will be given an adequate time between assignment and deadline.

VIII

Class Procedures (missed assignments, make up work assignment format)

Due to the fact that yearbook deadlines are set by Josten’s (the publisher), they are non-negotiable.  As a result, make up work is not possible.  Students who are absent must coordinate with classmates and Editiors to insure that all page and advertising deadlines are met.

For weekly planning reports and other assigned work, students will have one day to make up any missed work for each day missed with an excused absence.
