Class Procedures (missed
assignments, make up work assignment format) If a student
misses class, it is the responsibility of the student to get the assignments
from me or by speaking with a classmate. Missed
assignments due to excused absence. By district
policy, students are allowed one day for every day they are out to make up
work with no penalty. After that the
assignment will be treated as a late assignment. Missed
assignments due to unexcused absence (cut). If you cut
school you may not make up the assignment you miss. A grade of 0 will be entered for anything due that day. Late work Late
assignments are reduced in credit 10% for every day they are late, up to a
maximum of 5 days late. Extra Credit I have one extra
credit assignment. Once each week, a
student may bring me an article from a newspaper or magazine or a book (junk
mail, internet, school bulletins, or a letter from a friend do not count)
showing an error in spelling, grammar or punctuation. By showing me one error each week the
student may accumulate 5% extra credit for the quarter. All papers
that are to be written outside of class are to be typed in black ink, size 12
font, Times New Roman with standard (1 inch) margins. |

|
Behavioral Expectations (and consequences) Mutual
respect is the standard of behavior. Disrespect
shown to the teacher, a fellow student, or the school will be dealt with in
personal conferences, detentions, parent telephone calls or disciplinary
referrals. I reserve the right to use
any or all of these methods in the order warranted by the situation. |

Grading policy: I will nnotify students in class when grades have been updated on
the computer. I will also give each
student a printed grade report every two weeks. This allows you to be aware
of any missed assignments and arrange for makeuup of tests or quizzes and
gives you the opportunity to doublecheck my records of your work. I will gladly make corrections at these
times. Homework 35% Tests 35% Projects 25% Journals 5% Extra Credit 5% |
