Final Run of the Fourth Quarter

We are halfway through the fourth and final quarter, which means that progress reports are being sent out. If you have been procrastinating with your classes, it's time to get caught up within the next couple of weeks. Seniors, remember to turn in your community service papers otherwise you will not be able to graduate. If you haven't done anything yet then get on that as soon as possible. After you complete your hours have your supervisor sign a verification form. The link for this is http://aptoshs.net/forms/community_service_hours_form.pdf
Then turn that into your counselor and you should be all good.

Football

I wanted to remind everyone that the tickets are now on sale for the AHS Football Fundraiser on Saturday, May 10, 2008. There will be a great BBQ dinner featuring "Corralitos Market & Sausage Company" chicken and tri-tip as well as lots of silent and live auction items. The evening wouldn't be complete without dancing to the live music of 'No Slack" For the sports fans, a Giants game in the Granite Skybox has been generously donated again for this year's live auction as well as the great package of Mariner Gear, donated by By George T-Shirts, that is always a great deal!

Minimum Day

Great job everyone! We have been awarded a minimum day on May 16 th , for achieving ninety-five percent attendance during the California Academics Testing. The testing was very important in determining the ranking of our school in our district. The scores might mean very little to you, but they help determine acceptance into colleges. The higher our ranking compared to other schools in our district, the better you will look to college on your resumes. Hopefully everyone tried the best on the test, it is a test that will help everyone for college. We are trying to achieve a score for the school of 800 for this year; there will be another chance for a better score for this year's sophomores and freshmen. I am sure that all tests will improve this school's scores for the better; great job again on all your hard work for this year.

Film Festival

Tonight is the night for the very first annual Aptos High School Film Festival! It will be showing from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm and it will be held in the cafeteria. Admission will be only five ($5) dollars, a portion of which will be donated to the club STAND. This will be a very enticing event and will include excellent videos created by students in Ms. Angelacos' film classes, which they have work hard on. Make sure you can come, because this is an event that you don't want to miss! If this first film festival is popular enough, then we will be able to hopefully host this for many years to come. Film Festivals may have started around the 1920s, but for Aptos High School, film festivals started in the year 2008. For more information about the film festival, go to room E-104 in the upper quad.
AP Exams

AP Exams are fast approaching; we are half way through April so those in AP classes need to start studying. I know from experience that the test is very challenging so you need to make sure that you have the upper hand by starting early. Only ten to twenty minutes a night is all it takes to get a very successful score on the AP Exams. Make sure that you get plenty of sleep the night before the exam and have a good breakfast; it will help you for the exams. If you have more than one exam, time management will be very important so that you achieve the best scores for multiple exams. Do not let all your hard work all year go to waste, make sure you do your best on the test! Good luck everyone, it will be a challenging two weeks from May 5 th to May 16th.

Freshmen Computer Literacy 1 Test
